AlarmCAD Plotting

Brad Fox -

I.) Verify Plotter Configuration - (This may not be necessary every time, but it doesn't hurt to check)

A.) Click File > Plotter Setup

1.) Ensure that the correct plotter/PDF converter is selected - click Properties

2.) Ensure that the Orientation is set to Landscape

3.) Ensure that the appropriate paper size is selected

4.) Ensure that the Print Quality is set to 300 DPI (this can be raised if you want clearer prints) *See Note

5.) Click OK until you get back to your Plot Sheet.

B.) Click File > Page Setup > Query Printer

1.) If you get the wrong Page Size, run through Plotter Setup again to verify all information

II.) Setup Plot Sheet/Sheet Tab

   A.) Capture Camera Settings

1.) Look at the model tab

2.) Orient the model on the screen to display what is to be printed

3.) Right-click in empty space then click Capture Camera Settings

B.) Set Up the Plot Sheet

1.) Look at the sheet tab

2.) Insert a View element (Tools > View, for convenience, draw the View just inside of the border of the plot sheet, it is easiest to select a View by its border)

3.) After the model loads in the View, right-click the border and Paste Camera Settings

4.) Open the Properties of the View element, set the scale and lower the DPI to 48 if the positioning of the model in the View needs to be adjusted, click OK

5.) Adjust the positioning of the model in the View, if necessary

6.) Open the Properties of the View and increase the DPI if necessary *See Note

III.) Plot

A.) Click File > Plot > Start Printing

*Note - These DPI settings should match. If they're not the same, the resulting PDF/Plot will always end up with the lower of the 2. Higher DPI settings create clearer plots but take longer to generate and result in larger file sizes.
